WHITE HOUSE

White House is an urban house and office building in Newmarket, Auckland. It was drawn through analogue sketches and paper models, as a way of observing large scale dynamic landscapes, such as Auckland.

White House is sited among a group of small commercial buildings in a commercial street in Auckland. It is tightly locked into the urban street texture but has unobstructed eastern views to the suburban landscape and harbour.

The design was an attempt to capture the complex performative dynamics of a city landscape, through a gestural analogue drawing process, spanning pencil on paper to an insubstantial, curved ‘paper’ building.
