CONCRETE HOUSE

Concrete House is an urban courtyard house. It was drawn through analogue and digital sketches and paper models, and responded to the ever-present seismic latency in Wellington’s landscape.

Kelburn, Wellington

2011

It is a courtyard house composed of a series of concrete panels, arranged as if they have been subjected to invisible forces; tilted, raised, floating or rotated.

The house is conceptually one space with different intensities that flow through the whole site. It is a comment on Wellington’s seismic latency, and potential for massive seismic shifts.
