CANYON

Canyon was an architectural sketch of a submarine landscape, the Kaikōura canyon, picking up on its strange architecture: its immense scale, flows and pressures and seismic latency. It was an immersive drawing installation combining VR, material space and spatialised sound.

INSTALLATION

Canyon imaginatively projects into the unseen marine landscape, distilling its ominous scale and power through graphite sketches, soundscapes and the canyon-like boundlessness of virtual reality.

Sketches were extended through sonic drawings, in 3 dimensions, spatialised into four overlapping soundscapes. The VR environment was visible through video four portals, behind fissures in the drawing surface.
